I really did like this one. I thought it was a tad predictable and I definitely caught on to part of it at like 30% of the way through, but there was still some surprises and it kept me guessing on some of the parts of it the entire way through. One of the things I did not like was that everyone had nicknames and the names would change within the same paragraph or sentence and it was just too much for me.

I liked Deacon. I think he was really realistic. He wasn't apologetic for being the way he was and I liked that he told Emmie that he was not going to just be able to change because she wanted him to. But I also liked that Emmie made her own decisions at the end there. I loved seeing their journey together and how they both grew.

I was a little disappointed that Chelsea wasn't involved in the story more -- I would have liked to see more of the female friendship side of things because I feel like they had a good one. It would have been nice to have a bit of that because we didn't get much.

I liked that there was more at play than just the "mystery" because there were things Emmie didn't know about her parents and their family dynamic. I thought it was quite interesting seeing how their past affected how Emmie was treated. I also liked seeing her come into her own. I thought she was a pretty good protagonist and heroine in this story.

Without giving it away, I thought that the majority of the "bad guys" were obvious and there was only really one that surprised me. But I was still interested and on the edge of my seat to figure out how it was all interconnected and what that meant for Emmie and Deacon. I would recommend this if you want a quick, light read with a fairly good mystery that is worth the pay off.
